About IGCSE Geography

Detailed Information

About the IGCSE Geography Exam

IGCSE Geography is an exam covering physical geography (river processes, coastal processes, tectonic activity, weather and climate) and human geography (population, settlement, agriculture, industry, tourism) through the Cambridge syllabus. It is assessed in Paper 1 (geographical themes), Paper 2 (fieldwork and map skills) and Paper 4 (alternative fieldwork) formats. Map reading, graph interpretation and fieldwork skills are important.

TestPrep's Approach to A* in IGCSE Geography

Achieving A* in IGCSE Geography requires explaining geographical processes (erosion, transportation, deposition) with correct terminology, interpreting Ordnance Survey maps and performing statistical data analysis. TestPrep Geography tutors provide one-on-one practice on diagram drawing in physical geography (river valley cross-sections, wave types), case study examples in human geography and fieldwork methodology for Paper 2. Map skills (grid reference, scale calculation, cross-section drawing) are reinforced regularly.

Our child had a clear goal but no steady study routine. A good connection with the tutor developed quite quickly. Being able to fit lessons around school made the process easier. Joining lessons willingly was one of the clearest signs for us. We were happy with both the teaching and the communication.

I was taking IGCSE Geography at school, but getting used to the exam questions took time. One bad mock no longer made me want to drop the whole plan. Source questions became easier once I noticed how small details affected the mark. Thanks to TestPrep for helping me stay on track.

After my first attempt, I wanted the second round of preparation to feel more organized. When I got something wrong, we looked at why I chose that answer instead of only checking the solution. Having the lesson move at my pace made the process feel much easier. Using the mark scheme to review my own answer was surprisingly helpful. I wasn't trying to learn new topics at the very last minute. I'm glad I worked with my tutor through this process.

I was close to my target, but my results changed a lot from one test to the next. I stopped doing a huge amount one week and nothing the next. Having the lesson move at my pace made the process feel much easier. I learned to make a short plan before starting a long response. I left the exam feeling that I had done what I could. Thanks to TestPrep for helping me stay on track.
