AP English Language and Composition is a language and writing exam focused on rhetorical analysis, argumentation and non-fiction text examination. The exam consists of 45 MCQs and 3 FRQs (rhetorical analysis, synthesis, argument). Students must recognize and analyze rhetorical strategies such as ethos, pathos and logos.
In AP English Language, the synthesis essay requires evaluating multiple sources and using them to support your own argument. The rhetorical analysis essay requires analyzing a speech or writing's rhetorical strategies and effects.
