About the AP English Language Exam

AP English Language and Composition is a language and writing exam focused on rhetorical analysis, argumentation and non-fiction text examination. The exam consists of 45 MCQs and 3 FRQs (rhetorical analysis, synthesis, argument). Students must recognize and analyze rhetorical strategies such as ethos, pathos and logos.

TestPrep Strategy for Scoring 5 on AP English Language

In AP English Language, the synthesis essay requires evaluating multiple sources and using them to support your own argument. The rhetorical analysis essay requires analyzing the rhetorical strategies and effects of a speech or written text.
