Detailed Information
AP Physics C: Mechanics is a calculus-based physics exam covering kinematics, Newton's laws, work-energy theorem, momentum and collisions, rotational motion and oscillations. The exam consists of 35 MCQs and 3 FRQs. This exam is equivalent to one semester of university-level engineering physics.
AP Physics C: Mechanics differs from AP Physics 1 in requiring the application of differential and integral calculus to physics problems. Calculus usage is mandatory in topics such as moment of inertia, angular momentum conservation and rotational kinetic energy. TestPrep tutors strengthen the integration of physics and mathematics, enabling students to independently perform calculus-based derivations. This exam is critically important for students targeting engineering and physics programs.
Core topics include Kinematics (calculus-based), Newton's laws and Work, energy and power; AP is a single-level course, so every student sits the same exam.
We combine concise topic notes, conceptual questions and past-paper practice, with a weekly error-log review.
It depends on the target grade and starting level; typically 1-2 hours of tutoring per week plus 3-5 hours of independent work.
The College Board publishes one Course and Exam Description per subject and the format holds across sessions. When a course is redesigned, we rebuild the plan around the new CED.
