AP Calculus AB is a fundamental calculus exam covering limits, derivatives, integrals and the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus. The exam consists of 45 multiple-choice questions and 6 free-response questions. The FRQ section includes both calculator-active and calculator-inactive parts. This exam is equivalent to one semester of university-level calculus.
AP Calculus AB requires the ability to apply derivatives and integrals to real-world problems as well as graphical analysis and reasoning skills. TestPrep Calculus AB tutors provide deep practice in chain rule, implicit differentiation, related rates, area/volume calculations and differential equations. FRQ strategies and graphing calculator (TI-84/TI-Nspire) usage techniques are taught in detail.
BC contains all AB topics plus series, parametrics, polar, advanced integration. BC takers also receive an AB sub-score. A 5 typically requires ~70% raw on AB and ~65% on BC.
MCQ Section: 45 questions, 105 min (50%). FRQ Section: 6 questions, 90 min (50%). Each section has calculator and non-calculator parts.
Graphing calculators such as TI-84 Plus, TI-Nspire CX (non-CAS), Casio fx-9750GIII. CAS versions are prohibited.
Many US universities grant Calculus I credit for 4-5. MIT and Caltech don't accept it; most state schools and liberal arts colleges do.
