Detailed Information
AP Environmental Science (APES) is an interdisciplinary science exam covering ecology, biodiversity, population dynamics, land and water use, energy sources and consumption, pollution and global climate change. The exam consists of 80 MCQs and 3 FRQs. FRQs assess calculation, experimental design and environmental policy proposal skills.
In the APES exam, energy calculations (kWh conversions, efficiency percentages), population growth rate calculations (Rule of 70) and ecosystem efficiency questions are frequently encountered mathematical areas. TestPrep Environmental Science tutors provide practice with current data on environmental laws and regulations (Clean Air Act, Endangered Species Act, etc.), ecosystem services and sustainability. Scientific argument construction and solution proposal writing strategies are taught for FRQs.
Core topics include Ecosystems and biodiversity, Populations and soil and Atmosphere and air pollution; AP is a single-level course, so every student sits the same exam.
We combine concise topic notes, conceptual questions and past-paper practice, with a weekly error-log review.
It depends on the target grade and starting level; typically 1-2 hours of tutoring per week plus 3-5 hours of independent work.
The College Board publishes one Course and Exam Description per subject and the format holds across sessions. When a course is redesigned, we rebuild the plan around the new CED.
80 multiple-choice questions
3 free-response questions
AP exams are scored 1-5, and most universities award credit for a 4 or 5. The structure above follows the current College Board Course and Exam Description.
Timeframe: Week 1
Focus: Diagnostic test, goal setting, syllabus mapping
Outcome: Personalized study plan
Timeframe: Weeks 2-12
Focus: Topic order, concept + practice, weekly quiz
Outcome: Half of syllabus covered
Timeframe: Weeks 13-22
Focus: Tougher topics, past-paper drills, written-response structure
Outcome: Syllabus completed
Timeframe: 4-6 weeks before exam
Focus: Full practice test, error log, timing strategy
Outcome: Target-level practice test score
Each topic is followed by released College Board multiple-choice and free-response questions.
Every response is graded against the official College Board scoring guidelines.
Errors are tagged conceptual/careless/timing and reviewed weekly.
