Detailed Information
A-Level Psychology is a social science exam covering cognitive psychology, social psychology, developmental psychology, research methods, biological psychology and psychological disorders. In the CIE syllabus, it is assessed as four papers (core psychology, research methods and elective topics); in AQA, as three papers. Research methods (experiments, observations, correlations, case studies) are assessed in every paper.
In A-Level Psychology, knowing key studies (Milgram, Asch, Bandura, Ainsworth, etc.) in detail and critically evaluating them is of critical importance. Each study's aim, method, findings, conclusions and evaluation (strengths/weaknesses) are frequently tested. TestPrep Psychology tutors teach structured response templates aligned with AO1 (knowledge), AO2 (application) and AO3 (evaluation) criteria. Ethical evaluation and statistical analysis skills in research methods are practiced regularly.
Core topics include Social influence, Memory and Attachment; A2 adds the depth the full A-Level requires on top of the AS year.
We combine concise topic notes, conceptual questions and past-paper practice, with a weekly error-log review.
It depends on the target grade and starting level; typically 1-2 hours of tutoring per week plus 3-5 hours of independent work.
Paper structure, timing and weighting differ between Cambridge International (CAIE), Pearson Edexcel, AQA and OCR. The lesson plan is finalised once the student's board and syllabus code are confirmed.
Cambridge International, Pearson Edexcel, AQA and OCR each split this subject across a different number of papers; all combine multiple-choice, structured and extended-response questions
Practical, oral or research component where applicable to the syllabus
A-Levels are graded A*-E. Cambridge International, Pearson Edexcel, AQA and OCR set different papers for the same subject, so the component list is finalised once the student's board and syllabus code are confirmed.
