"I was looking for help with general ACT strategy and a quantitative refresher. The tutor was fantastic and exceeded expectations in all regards. I was skeptical about the effectiveness of web-based tutoring but was pleasantly surprised. With their help, I achieved my target score of 35. I would highly recommend TestPrep."

Ask for detailsThe ACT (American College Testing) is a standardized exam used for admission to US universities. It consists of four mandatory sections — English, Math, Reading and Science — plus an optional Writing section. Each section is scored from 1 to 36, and the composite score is the average of all four sections. The total test time is approximately 2 hours and 55 minutes without Writing.
The ACT is especially advantageous for students who are strong in science and STEM subjects, thanks to the Science Reasoning section. Unlike the SAT, the ACT does not use an adaptive test format — all questions are predetermined. This makes timing strategy and section-based study planning even more critical.
The TestPrep ACT program provides separate strategy and timing plans for each of the four sections. We have developed specialized graph interpretation, experiment analysis and scientific reasoning strategies for the Science Reasoning section — often the most challenging area for international students. Our tutors have scored 34+ on the ACT and are graduates of leading US universities.
With full-format ACT mock exams administered every two weeks, we track student progress and continuously update study strategies. Our composite score target is 32+, and our students record an average improvement of 6 points. Since the ACT is offered multiple times per year, we work together to determine the optimal test date through flexible planning.

The ACT is a US college-admissions standardized test and an alternative to the SAT. Unlike the SAT it includes a separate Science section, demands faster pacing, and tests scientific data interpretation. All US universities accept both ACT and SAT equally.
Each section is scored 1-36 (English, Math, Reading, Science). The ACT Composite is the average of those four, also on a 1-36 scale. Top-20 universities typically expect 33-35; T50 schools 30-33.
Total 2 hours 55 minutes (without Writing). English 45 min, Math 60 min, Reading 35 min, Science 35 min. Optional Writing adds 40 minutes. From 2025, an internationally available CBT version is rolling out.
Most universities don't require Writing, but some state systems and specific programs may. Always check your target university's policy in advance.
Authorized test centres operate in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir — usually at international schools. The test is offered roughly 7 times a year (Sep, Oct, Dec, Feb, Apr, Jun, Jul).
Four required sections plus optional Writing — 215 questions and 1 essay total.
75 questions: grammar, rhetoric, structure
60 questions: pre-algebra to trigonometry
40 questions: 4 passages (prose fiction, social science, humanities, natural science)
40 questions: charts, experiments, conflicting hypotheses
Argumentative essay; scored separately, not part of Composite
Unlike older SAT formats, the ACT does not penalise wrong answers — answer every question.
Strong band for top-10 universities; Composite 35+ is a typical Ivy League target.
Typical band for top-50 universities and scholarship programs.
Acceptance band for most state universities.
Sufficient for some liberal arts colleges and state universities.
On the ACT-SAT concordance, Composite 33 ≈ SAT 1500 and Composite 30 ≈ SAT 1400.

ACT is more pace-critical than SAT, so we calibrate per-question time targets section by section.
Most Turkish students aren't taught the ACT Science format, so we run dedicated chart and experiment-analysis workshops.
Each mock produces a categorized error log to prevent repeating the same mistake.
